It may be genetic

When I was little, I had a blankie.  My favorite part of this blanket was its silky edges.  I would run that silk part between my fingers for comfort.

Gavin had a little fever over the weekend and he was sitting on the couch watching some TV trying to take it easy.  I covered him with this blanket and he started running that silky edge between his fingers.  It was kind of fun to see a little characteristic of mine coming through in him.IMG_2683 IMG_2682

Easter Party

Mikayla’s Easter party at her preschool was today.   I was in charge of putting it together and had a lot of fun doing it.  I put together little treat buckets to send home with the children.  I filled them with a pencil, bubbles, Play-dough and these chocolate suckers.  IMG_2671 This was my first attempt and candy-making and I think they turned out pretty cute!

IMG_2672 IMG_2673 I had other very creative moms helping out with this party.  One mom made these very cute “chick” cupcakes.  Another one made the strawberry mice.  I think this was definitely the most creative food party we have had.IMG_2675

Mikayla had a great time at the party.  After the kids ate, they had an egg hunt in the classroom.  We were going to have it outside, but unfortunately it was raining.  Thankfully, the kids didn’t have a crazy, egg, free-for-all.  We had the parents right all of the children’s names on the eggs prior to sending them in, so instead of each kid trying to get as many eggs as possible, they spent the time looking for eggs with their names on it.

It was a great morning spent with my little girl!

Daddy’s Night

Last Monday night, Mikayla’s preschool hosted a Daddy’s night.  The children get to go to their classroom with their Daddy and do all kind of fun activities together.  Mikayla was SO excited – she had been talking about it for weeks.   They had so much fun together.IMG_2658IMG_2661

They made this together that night.  I am always a sucker for the handprint projects.  I will always want to remember how little those sweet hands are.IMG_2662

Those are Mikayla’s little fingerprints on the ladybug.

IMG_2667 Mikayla made this in her classroom prior to the big night.  It has a nice spot on Daddy’s bedside table.IMG_2663

This was my favorite art project that came home with them.  Mikayla painted the picture of daddy and her teachers helped her right a very funny description of her daddy.  I loved it!IMG_2665

Outside fun

IMG_2656

Mikayla has been begging to eat lunch outside, so about a week ago, we had a nice lunch outside together.  Gavin enjoyed getting to sit in a big boy chair.

Sleepy boy

Gavin is going through a little bit of a transition in his sleep schedule right now.  Some days he needs to take two naps and other days he only need the afternoon nap.   On the days that he doesn’t take an afternoon nap, he tends to get pretty tired right around lunch time.  The other day he fell asleep during his lunch.  If you watch the video closely, the sleeping little boy is persistently trying to finish that bottle.

A relaxing afternoon

I just love spring.  It is such a nice time to be outside with the kids and have fun with them.  We just got a new hammock and these two little sweeties are what I get to look at while I am relaxing in it.

IMG_2646 IMG_2647 IMG_2648 I even got to cuddle on it with my cheesy little girl.

Busy little leprechaun

I hope everyone had a nice St. Patty’s day.  We had a fun day and enjoyed seeing all of the things that the leprechaun did as he visited our house.

IMG_2627   Last night, Mikayla and I made cookies to have today.  As you can see, “make” is a loosely held term.  We did take the pre-made cookie and roll the edges in green sugar to dress them up a little bit.IMG_2628 First of all, our pancakes were turned green!IMG_2630 IMG_2632Then he turned our milk green, too! IMG_2635 We also had some green grapes for breakfast to keep the theme going.IMG_2636Mikayla had a snack of celery with green cream cheese.  She didn’t really like it, though.  I hadn’t thought about the fact that she had never had cream cheese before.IMG_2637The last thing the leprechaun did at our house was to tip-toe on Mikayla’s sandwich, take a bite out of it, and leave a gold chocolate coin behind.  Mikayla thought this one was pretty funny.IMG_2638

For dessert, Mikayla made some green pudding in a Zip-loc bag.  She had a lot of fun shaking it all over the place.IMG_2640

Here is a picture of Mikayla in her St. Patrick’s Day shirt.  I was happy to get a sweet smile (instead of usual cheesy one) even if she wouldn’t look at the camera directly.IMG_2644

Gavin would not stand still for a picture, but you get the idea.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I’m published!

I had submitted a tip to the Parent Hack blog, and they posted it today.  It was nothing grand, but I am still pretty excited.

Gavin’s babble

Gavin does not say a lot of words yet.  Mainly, he says mama, dada, night night, and bye-bye.  He does however have a very cute little babble.  He looks at you very seriously and rattles of a sentence of baby babble.  It is so fun to listen to.

My youngest sister lives in Utah and has been begging me to post a photo of Gavin’s little language.  I have had a hard time capturing him, because he tends to be quiet and just stare at the camera anytime I bring it out.  At dinner the other night, I finally captured some of it.  So Aunt Lollie, here you go!

The “Opatel” Course

After we went to the circus, Mikayla came home and wanted to make an obstacle course for her new Bengal Tiger.  This is what she came up with.
